Women in Business” Social Media Contest Rules

Contest Run Dates:
September 13, 2021, 9:00 a.m. MST – October 31, 2021, 6:00 p.m. MST

1. Binding Agreement

a. By participating in this contest, you agree to be bound by these rules (“Official Rules”) in addition to the rules of the corresponding social media platform(s).

2. No Purchase Necessary

a. NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER THE CONTEST. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR ODDS OF WINNING. ALL FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL, AND MUNICIPAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS APPLY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

3. Sponsor

a. Altabank, Division of Glacier Bank, 33 East Main St. American Fork, UT 84003, referred to herein as “Bank”.

4. Term and Agreement

a. Term. Entry into the above-described Contest starts September 13 at 9:00 a.m. Mountain Standard Time and ends on October 31 at 6:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. The Bank’s computer is the official time-keeping device for the Contest. All entries must be received by the ending date and time to be eligible.

b. Agreement. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these Official Rules. By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to the Official Rules and warrants that his or her entry complies with all requirements set out in the Official Rules.

5. Eligibility

a. To be eligible, the entrant must be a women-owned business headquartered within Utah or southern Idaho. A company may be considered a women-owned business if at least one of the primary owners identifies as female.

b. Eligible participants must be at least 18 years of age and must be lawful permanent residents of the United States and legal residents of Utah or Idaho. Contest void where prohibited by law. This Contest is void outside of Utah and southern Idaho. Employees of the Bank, officials, and members of their immediate families residing at the same address, are not eligible to participate in the contest. By entering this contest, entrants accept and agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Bank.

6. Entries

a. Entry Requirements. To enter, contestants must fit all eligibility requirements. An eligible entrant may choose to enter their business into one of seven categories. In order to enter, the owner(s) of the woman-owned business must submit a short essay or a 90-second video about themselves and how they started their business.

All entries must be submitted via a secure form that is developed by Shortstack. When completing the form, all required fields must be completed including the entrant’s first and last name, email address, business name, city, and website or social media links.

  • Essay Entries: Entries will be received via a secure online form that is operated by the Bank. The form will include a text box and will allow documents or pictures to be uploaded. Essays may be entered in a text box within the form or may be uploaded in one of the supported formats.
  • Video Entries: Entries will be received via a secure online form that is operated by the Bank. The form will include a field in which a YouTube or video link may be entered. If an entrant chooses to submit a 90-second video, it is their responsibility to upload and manage the video on their personal or business YouTube (or a similar platform such as Vimeo) account. Videos must be made public to ensure visibility for the contest committee.
  • Time Limit: Videos longer than 95-seconds (excluding videos that are longer than 90-seconds due to start and end cards, video formatting, file compression, or other technical issues outside of the owner’s control) will be disqualified.
  • All entrants must also include a short, written statement about the charity they would contribute to and why they chose that charity.

By submitting an essay or video, entrants agree to abide by the contest rules and guidelines. All essays and videos must be received by 11:59 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time on September 30, 2021, in order to be eligible for participation.

b. Entry Categories. A business owner may choose to enter in one of the following categories:

  • Business & Consulting Services (consultants, lawyers, graphic designers, assistants)
  • Health & Personal Care (therapists, yoga studios, massage parlors, natural healing)
  • Entertainment (speakers, singers, dance studios, theaters)
  • Food & Restaurants (soda shops, caterers, bakeries)
  • Retail (florists, clothing boutiques, jewelry stores, home decor)
  • Non-Profit (pet rescues, education, programs for those at-risk)
  • Other (construction, event planning, services, etc.)

Business owners may only enter their business in one category; this category must be one that best fits their overall business objectives. The Bank may choose to re-classify a business into a different category for purposes of this contest. The business owner will be informed of the change and the reasoning behind it.

c. No purchase is required to participate. No Altabank-held account is required to participate.

d. Only one entry is allowed per entity in this Contest. Multiple essays by or about the same person or entity will act as a single entry.

7. Social Media “Play for Points” Contest

a. Beginning October 1, 2021, entrants participating in the social media contest will be listed on a landing page shared via the Bank’s social media pages. Entrants may share a link to the landing page on their own social media pages and tagging @altabankusa and using the hashtag #AltabankWIB. Entrants who submit an essay may choose not to participate in the social media portion of the contest.

  • Definitions. For purposes of the social media contest rules, an “entrant” will refer to the business or entity participating in the contest by posting clues and actions for their followers to take. A “user” refers to a follower or fan of the entrant who participates in the contest by taking the actions required to gain points. Users do not need to fit the essay contest eligibility requirements.
b. Format. A “Play for Points” social media contest grants points to users for taking certain actions. Users receive points for actions such as following an Instagram account or visiting a website. Each action is worth a certain number of points. The points will be listed next to the corresponding action. Actions and points will be predetermined by the Bank and listed on a secure landing page managed by the Bank. Users may choose which actions to complete. Points will be tallied throughout the week and the top five users with the most points at the end of the week (Friday) will be the winners.

  • For purposes of this contest, a “week” will begin each Friday at 12:00 p.m. and end the following Thursday at 11:59 p.m.
    • Week 1: October 1-7, 2021
    • Week 2: October 8-14, 2021
    • Week 3: October 15-21, 2021
    • Week 4: October 22-28, 2021

c. Platforms. Entrants may choose which social media platform(s) they use to participate. Entrants may use platforms to participate. Every Sunday, the Bank will send an email to participants with a sample social media post and a list of required actions. The Bank will provide the requirements and points possible for that week’s actions.

d. Winners. Five winners will be chosen each week. Winners will be determined based on the number of points they collect. The top five users with the most points will be the winners. Points will be calculated using an online social media contest software program called Shortstack. Winners will be determined and notified on Fridays at approximately 7:00 p.m. MST.

8. Publicity Release

a. Consent to Publicity and Release. By submitting a photograph through an Instagram, Facebook direct message, or other means, the entrant consents to permit the Bank to utilize his/her name and picture in promotional and other Bank materials, without additional compensation or permission, except where prohibited by law.

9. Representations, Warranties, License Grant, and Indemnity

a. Representations and Warranties. With respect to any material you submit in relation to this contest, including, but not limited to, photos, videos, text, or any other material, YOU REPRESENT AND WARRANT:

i. That you own all proprietary rights in and to the material submitted;

ii. That you have the right to grant an irrevocable worldwide license to the Bank to use the material for any purpose the Bank deems desirable including, without limitation, marketing purposes; and

iii. That your submission of such materials does not, nor will it, infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any other person, entity, or other organization.

b. License Grant. For any material you submit to the Bank in response and relation to this contest, you hereby grant the Bank a non-exclusive, irrevocable, worldwide license to:

i. Use such material(s) for any purpose, including, but not limited to, marketing; and

ii. Reproduce, modify, distribute, publicly perform, and publicly display the material.

c. Indemnity. By submitting any material to the Bank, you agree to indemnify and hold the Bank, its directors, officers, employees, shareholders, customers, and agents (the “Indemnified Parties”) harmless from and against all liabilities, losses, damages, penalties, actions, judgments, costs, expenses, or disbursements of any kind or nature that may be imposed on, incurred by, or asserted against the Indemnified Parties in any way relating to or arising out of the materials you have submitted, such as, but not limited to, copyright infringement, misappropriation, public disclosure of private facts, or intrusion.

10. Selection of Winners

a. Selection of Winners. Winners of the essay contest within each category will be judged on their essay submissions. Essays will be judged by a committee of five females in leadership positions within the local business community. Each essay will be judged on a scale of 1-5 according to a list of criteria and questions that should be addressed in the essay. The questions and criteria are listed below:

One winner will be selected for each of the seven categories listed in 6b according to their rating on the pre-determined list of criteria. One grand prize winner will be selected from the seven category winners. Winners will be selected on November 1, 2021.

b. In Case of Tie. In case of a scenario where two or more entrants receive the same score on their submitted essay, a tiebreaker will occur. The tiebreaker will be an additional 60-second video about why they chose the charity to whom they would like the Bank to contribute.

11. Contest Prizes

a. Grand Prize Winner Description. One Grand Prize Winner chosen from one of the seven category winners will receive the following in addition to the prize given to each category winner:

  • A $500 cashier’s check made out to their business
  • A 1-hour preliminary social media, website or brand consultation provided by the company Struck
    • Note: Any advice given during consultation is provided by Struck, Inc. alone and is not the opinion or advice from the Bank
  • A 1-hour preliminary PR or brand consultation provided by Love Communications
    • Note: Any advice given during consultation is provided by Love Communications alone and is not the opinion or advice from the Bank

b. Category Winner Prize Description. One winner in each of the seven categories will receive the following:

  • A $1,000 donation made in their name to the charity of their choice
  • An Altabank swag bag worth approximately $25

The Prize Winner will have met the requirements set in the Contest rules. No cash or other prize substitution is permitted except at the Bank’s discretion. The right to receive a Prize is non-transferable, non-assignable, and non-exchangeable.

c. Odds of Winning. The odds of winning are based upon the number of eligible participants in the contest.

12. Notification of Winners

a. Winners of the essay contest will be notified on or after November 1, 2021, through the use of the contact information listed on their entry form. If the Prize Winner(s) cannot be contacted within three (3) days of attempted first notification, he or she will forfeit the prize and the prize will be given to the entrant in second place. If the Prize Winner(s) is not able or willing for whatever reason to accept their prize, then the Bank reserves the right to award the prize to another entrant.

13. Liability

a. General Liability Rules. The Bank is not responsible for any loss that may occur in connection with the Contest. Each entrant agrees to hold the Bank harmless from any liability arising from participation in the Contest or the acceptance, receipt, possession, or misuse of the Prize. The Bank and each of its officers, directors, employees, customers and representatives and agents are not responsible for any negligence, claims, liability, injury, property loss, or other damages of entrants and/or Prize Winner arising from, or in connection with acceptance, receipt, possession, or use/misuse of prizes awarded in or participation in the Contest.

b. Liability for Error/ Corruption. The Bank is not responsible for any problems with your entry, including incomplete, late, or misdirected entries. If there is any suspected evidence of tampering or interference associated with the Contest beyond the reasonable control of the Bank and their affiliates which corrupts or impairs the administration, security, or fairness of the Contest, the Bank reserves the right to disqualify any entrant deemed responsible for such corruption, suspend and/or terminate the Contest and select a Prize Winner from the entries received up to the time of such termination or suspension.

14. Prize Non-Transferable, Non-Assignable, and Non-Exchangeable

a. No cash or other prize substitution permitted except at the Bank’s discretion. The right to receive a Prize is non-transferable, non-assignable, and non-exchangeable. The prize cannot be substituted or converted to cash by the Winner.

15. List of Winners

a. For the list of the Prize Winners or a set of these Official Rules, please send a self-addressed stamped envelope to Altabank, Att. Marketing Department – List and Rules Statements, 33 E Main St, American Fork, UT 84003.

16. Charitable Contributions

a. Charitable contributions will be made in the name of the category winner. Contributions will be made directly to the charity named. This contribution does not constitute the Bank’s endorsement or support of the named charity or its mission and goals.

17. Right to Cancel or Suspend Contest

a. If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, due to tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the reasonable control of the Bank that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest, the Bank reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest. In such an event, no prizes will be awarded.

18. Tax Issues

a. The Bank will report all prize winnings to the appropriate state and federal agencies as required by applicable law. Prize Winners are responsible for all tax consequences (if any) of the prize.

19. Choice of Law

a. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrants and the Bank in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the substantive laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to choice of law rules.

20. Severability

a. If any provision(s) of these Official Rules is held to be invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions hereof will remain in full force and effect.

21. Privacy Notice

a. By participating in this Contest, you agree that we can collect your personal information and that if we cannot collect the required data, you may not be eligible to participate in the Contest. Any personal information collected during the course of the contest by the Bank will only be used for administering this Contest and for other purposes as outlined in these Official Rules and will be subject to the practices described in the Bank’s Privacy Policy.
