Altabanking Interview KSL Radio Transcript: Reach Out and Read – Dr. Davis and Stan Sorensen

Segment title: Intermountain Healthcare Partnership & The Reach Out and Read Program

GRANT: Welcome to Altabanking. Weekly business talk and expert financial guidance to help your business grow. I have with me Stan Sorensen who is vice president at Altabank and Dr. Neal Davis, Medical Director for Intermountain Healthcare’s Pediatric Community-based Care.
Stan, a strong community is very important to Altabank. And today, Altabank just announced an exciting new partnership that supports childhood literacy through Intermountain Healthcare. Share with us a bit more about this exciting announcement.

STAN: Thanks, Grant. It’s always great to be here with you. As a community bank, it’s important to do our part to help ensure those in need have the means for a brighter future. We are thrilled to announce a new long-term partnership with Intermountain Healthcare, including a $500,000 donation to its Healthy Kids initiative’s Reach Out and Read program.

GRANT: Dr. Davis, explain to us what The Reach Out and Read program is, and what this partnership means to Intermountain Healthcare?
Dr. Davis: Great question. Reach Out and Read introduces the power that reading to children can have in their health. Altabank’s gift will supply books that Intermountain medical providers can give to patients at early well child visits. Providers show parents how they can read to children, and share nurturing reading times together. These language-rich interactions between a parent and a child improve communication skills, curiosity, memory, patience, empathy and literacy in children. And this sets a foundation for resilience and health throughout a child’s entire life.

GRANT: Stan, why did Altabank choose to partner with Intermountain Healthcare on this initiative?

STAN: Altabank’s purpose is to create value and stability for our clients and the overall Utah community. We are so grateful for the amazing healthcare professionals and the tireless work they do every single day to lift our neighbors up. We felt this would be a wonderful opportunity to come together with Intermountain Healthcare and Primary Children’s Hospital in support of their great work with children throughout the State.

GRANT: Thank you, Stan, and thank you, Dr. Davis! This has been Altabanking. Brought to you by Altabank. Member FDIC.
